North Wilkesboro, NC - The NASCAR Cup Series returned to North Wilkesboro Speedway, Sunday night for the series first points race in 30 years. Previously, NASCAR held the All-star race at the facility.
On the pole due to inclement weather during qualifying was Ryan Blaney. However, Blaney was sent to the rear due to a power steering issue the team had to fix before the start of the race. Ty Gibbs led the field to green alongside Christopher Bell.
The first caution of the night came on lap 40 after John Hunter Nemechek spun. Zane Smith checked up and went right into the No. 42 of Nemechek.
Ty Gibbs was able to hold off Shane van Gisbergen to pick up his eighth career Stage win.
The second caution of the night came on Lap 183. Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman spun on the backstretch. Bowman was coming down the racetrack and caught Reddick as Bowman was about to come down pit road.
Joey Logano picked up a massive Stage 2 win to keep his Chase hopes alive and earn a crucial 10 points.
Joey Logano put on a masterful performance after leading 323 laps and picking up his first win of the season. Logano was able to fight off lapped traffic and hold off Denny Hamlin as he picked up a second consecutive win for Team Penske.
For Logano, he snapped a 45 race winless streak, for the rest of the field, only 6 cars finished on the lead lap.
