Charlotte, NC- Jimmie Johnson, seven time champion and co-owner of Legacy Motor Club, revealed the driver of the No. 42 Toyota Camry will be Josh Berry beginning in 2027. This will be the start of Berry's 6th season in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The news comes just weeks after the announcement of John Hunter Nemechek being released at the conclusion of the 2026 season from Legacy Motor Club despite announcements of a contract extension earlier this season.
Josh Berry has spent the last two seasons with Wood Brothers Racing driving the No. 21 Ford. It was announced that he would be replaced by reigning NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Champion, Jesse Love, next season, which left much uncertainty for Berry’s future at 35 years old. Berry made a playoff appearance, as well as brought the Wood Brothers to victory lane during his tenure with the team.
Legacy Motor Club will debut their first season as a three car team with Erik Jones returning and the new additions of both Riley Herbst and Josh Berry.
