Case closed.

After 15 months of litigation and eight full days in court, the NASCAR lawsuit and subsequent trial is complete.

On Thursday morning behind closed doors, NASCAR officially settled with 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports, the two teams that refused to sign the sport's charter agreement last September, who were suing the sport on grounds of antitrust. While official terms are still to be released, it has been confirmed that the two organizations have been granted their six collective charters back to be guaranteed places on the grid and revenue share for each NASCAR Cup Series event, and that charters within the sport are now "evergreen."

A joint statement from NASCAR, 23XI Racing, and Front Row Motorsports reads as follows:

NASCAR, 23XI Racing, and Front Row Motorsports are pleased to announce a mutually agreed-upon resolution that delivers long-term stability and creates the conditions for meaningful growth for all teams in a more competitive environment.

This resolution reflects our shared commitment to maintaining a fair and equitable framework for long-term participation in America's premier motorsport, one that supports teams, partners, and stakeholders while ensuring fans enjoy uninterrupted access to the best racing in the world. The agreement allows all parties to move forward with a unified focus on advancing stock car racing and delivering exceptional competition for our fans.

As a condition of the settlement agreement, NASCAR will issue an amendment to existing charter holders detailing the updated terms for signature, which will include a form of "evergreen" charters, subject to mutual agreement. The financial terms of the settlement are confidential and will not be released.

In a post on his X account shortly after the settlement was finalized, 23XI Racing co-owner and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin said "standing up isn't easy, but progress never comes from staying silent. The reward is in knowing you changed something."

Additional terms and conditions of the settlement, and what it means for NASCAR's charter system, are expected to be released in the coming hours and days.
