After a historic 2025 season in which we saw no rain delays throughout the entire year. However, 2026 looks to be starting off with a familiar trend - weather delays. It was announced earlier today that Cup Series qualifying would be cancelled and tomorrow's lineup would be determined by NASCAR's qualifying metric.
This metric, which has been in use since 2020, takes into account the following factors to determine an order: a driver's previous finishing position, fastest lap from the previous race, and points position. Another key thing to note is that with the combined qualifying/practice session cancelled, the first time the Cup Series drivers will actually be on the track will be when the race starts.
With all of this being said, recent Daytona 500 Champion Tyler Reddick will be starting on the pole position. The full top 10 starting positions can be seen below.
Tyler Reddick
Joey Logano
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Chase Elliott
Brad Keselowski
Zane Smith
Chris Buescher
Riley Herbst
Bubba Wallace
Josh Berry
The top drivers in NASCAR will be competing in the Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, tomorrow, Sunday, February 22nd at 3:00 P.M EST on FOX. Follow Motorsports Today on al social media platforms for more updates!
