Action around the Streets of St. Petersburg ended under red-flag conditions as the persistent weather over the Tampa Bay area fell over the race track, ultimately cutting NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice short and forcing qualifying positions to fall back to owner points.
Connor Mosack, driver of the No.7 Spire Motorsports Silverado, assumed pole, his second career for the OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 at St. Petersburg, based on owners' points and results from last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Although practice was cut short, all 36 trucks on the racetrack had the opportunity to turn a lap.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Practice Results (Top 10):
Kaden Honeycutt led the field with a 78.922s lap time. He timed eight-tenths faster than the rest of the field, as Niece Motorsports’ Ben Maier timed behind him in second with a 79.740 in his No.4 Chevrolet Silverado.
Eight-time INDYCAR winner James Hinchcliffe and four-time INDYCAR champion Dario Franchitti ended practice in fourth (79.828s) and in 19th (80.838). Both will benefit from the qualifying being cancelled, as the duo “qualified” third and sixth for Saturday’s race.
The sole driver to face an issue during the only NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice session at St. Petersburg was rookie Cole Butcher, driver of the No.13 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150, who hit the outside wall going into turn four on his first lap around the circuit. He will be going to a backup truck, per Bob Pockrass.

One minute everything’s planned out, and the next minute something unexpected happens and you’ve gotta adapt, lol. It’s like when you’re juggling a bunch of assignments and life stuff at the same time sometimes you never see changes coming until you’re already in it. Maybe it’s just me but when I’m swamped trying to finish everything and start to feel overwhelmed, having a bit of help makes it easier to deal with all that chaos.
