Marcus Ericsson Inks Extension with Andretti for 2027 season

Although it's already been a tumultuous silly season cycle for the NTT INDYCAR Series between a charter sale and Arrow-McLaren's major moves, one significant name who's future was uncertain is now off the market.

2022 Indianapolis 500 champion Marcus Ericsson will return to Andretti Global's driver lineup for the 2027 season, per a team announcement on social media Thursday afternoon.

Ericsson currently sits 9th in points with six races left in the current campaign, which would be his best result since signing with Andretti ahead of the 2024 season.

The Swede transitioned to American open wheel racing in 2019 after a half decade stint in Formula One, accumulating 18 points over five seasons with Cartham and Sauber. After his rookie year at Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, Ericsson moved to Chip Ganassi Racing for four seasons, where he scored all four of his NTT INDYCAR Series career victories to date, most notably the aforementioned 2022 Indianapolis 500.

Andretti's stable is expected to fully stand pat next season, as Ericsson will be accompanied by series veteran Will Power and Kyle Kirkwood, the latter of whom sits a team-best 3rd in the standings entering this weekend's race at Portland.
